Transforming Recycled Newspaper Into A Beautiful Chair

I love the idea of recycled newspaper making into chairs but does it really holding up a person's weight?

Designed by Stefan Gougherty, a simple molding process transforms recycled newspaper into a very lightweight, hollow and surprisingly rigid chair. Using glue as a binding agent, the newspaper is layered over drafted molds which are than removed once the glue has hardened. The components are glued together forming the chair and further layered to the thickness of a quarter inch. The finished chair is dipped in resin to increase its durability and weather resistance. While the molds ensure the uniform dimensions required for stacking, as a handmade product, each chair has a wonderful character of its own.
