Realistic 3D Paper Portraits Sculptures

All these almost too-real-for-paper sculptures send chill down my spine... I think it can wink at you.

Artist and sculptor of Dutch origin, Bert Simons has specialized in creating hyper-realistic portraits in three dimensions made entirely of paper. Proceeding according to an artistic approach and technique explained in detail on his site, it first scans a series of benchmarks on a live model and then reconstructs her face in Blender 3D. Once finalized and textured to be as faithful as possible to the original, each part of the print head is then cut to polygons and can then be assembled into relief. Halfway between sculpture and computer paper toy of the most complex.
