Flétta is a multifunctional table that can be easily transformed depending on space and needs. The table can easily be changed from dividing a workbench and a tablenook to a large dining table. By Guðrún Theodóra Alfreðsdóttir.

The inspiration for Flétta comes from medieval banquets around the 1500s. At the time, halls were multifunctional and dining tables were raised upon trestles so that they could easily be put away after the feasts and the halls put to other uses. The host of the celebration was seated in the middle of the table, and was therefore its heart, while also dividing the table. With the table Flétta, history and the present are woven together. In the hectic lives we lead today eating together is as valuable a social event as it is a biological one, it is at dinner when family ties are most strengthened.
