bottle cap

The Bottle Cap is a concrete and maple wood stool. By Peter Williamson.

Studying the relationship of material and subtraction, tool paths were created to remove wood perpendicular to the grain resulting in a chattering effect. This produced a textured wood surface. Tool paths were then created to remove foam in a radial pattern, producing ridges and swirls wich would register in the surface of the cast concrete. The result is a delightfully tactile experience marked by material sensitivity.
