The pencil itself has a Ticonderoga cedar body and a script label letting one know what kind of seeds are inside. Once the pencil is worn down and too stubby to write with anymore, it can be planted base-down in a home, office, or school room. When the base is submerged in soil and watered, its capsule will break down, freeing the seeds. After about one week of water and direct sunlight, the sprout will emerge and begin to grow alongside the pencil stub. The edible plants can be enjoyed without worry, as the pencils are 100% non-toxic.
